After growing up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, I spent four incredible years at UC Santa Cruz studying politics. I then moved to New York for four years where I did my graduate studies at the New School for Social Research. I focused on identity politics, particularly the intersections of race, gender and sexuality.
I have lived in Kobe, Japan since 1999. I teach part-time at four universities and spend all of my free time either with my amazing family or writing.
